The final box office numbers for last weekend are in and it seems that Jumanji: The Next Level (reviewed here) was able to far surpass expectations.
Going in to the weekend the film had been expected to gross around $40-50m but the final figures show that the Sony Pictures release, in fact, grossed $60.1m.
That figure takes the crown as Sony’s largest December opening surpassing the $52.7m grossed by the previous Jumanji back in 2017. The film faces stiff competition this week as Disney drops the latest Star Wars film which is likely to each up most of the global box office.
Internationally, Jumanji continued to dominate the box office. The film brought in a further $85.7m for a global tally which is currently sitting at around $212.6m. Remember the film has slowly been rolling out internationally for a couple of weeks now.
Congratulations to Sony, the cast and crew for the latest success!
