In news that really makes you wonder how much time James Wan has on his hands, it’s been revealed today that the Conjuring director will direct the upcoming pilot for a TV series based off the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise for Amazon.
In simple terms, Amazon describes the series as “a young adult horror series based off the Moritz-produced hit movie franchise”.
The 1997 slasher movie focused on four young friends being stalked by a hooked man after hitting someone with their car the previous summer, and featured one of the hottest casts of the 90s.
A remake was initially supposed to happen that was based on the young adult novel of the same name, but that has seemingly been dead for quite some time now.
Shay Hatten will write the pilot (after his success with the excellent John Wick 3), and the series will also start a three year deal with Neal H. Moritz, who will begin producing for Sony Pictures Television.
No word yet on if they will feature any of the old cast, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a throwback cameo performance from Jennifer Love-Hewitt in there somewhere.
