Now here’s a rumour which is sure to make many people very, very happy. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that writer-director Taika Waititi is to return to the Thor franchise.
The trade understands that Waititi has signed a deal with write and direct the follow-up to 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. It is also believed that star Chris Hemsworth is set to return as the God of Thunder.
In confirming the news THR is reporting that Warner Bros.’ Akira, which had been set for a May 21, 2021 release date, has been put on an indefinite hold.
Waititi was to have already begun testing actors for roles, but issues with the script have forced the studio to push back the original production start date. For now the project remains on hold but THR notes that WB is hoping to keep Waititi on board.
