Following a slightly confusing and staggered set of opening dates Spider-Man: Far From Home has made a huge dent on the worldwide box office.
The movie opened in several international territories last weekend but rolled out almost completely across the globe this week and has amassed a huge $580m already.
In North America the movie opened on Tuesday and has grossed $185m in its first six days. That six day tally takes it through the July 4 holiday and includes an impressive $93m for the three-day weekend period.
Previous movie, Homecoming, didn’t open on a Tuesday so it’s tough to compare but looking at the first six days in release for both Far From Home is over $30m ahead.
BoxOfficeMojo reports that Far From Home has the largest six-day opening for a Tuesday opener and the 22nd largest six-day performance of all-time. This is on top of the film already delivering the largest Tuesday opening day ever and the second widest opening ever as it debuted in a massive 4,634 locations.
Top market debuts for the Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios co-production include South Korea where the film has brought in $33.8m. Additionally, here in the UK’ our six-day launch totals $17.8m. Mexico delivered $13.9m in four days. The film began playing on Monday in Australia where it has now delivered nearly $12m and Russia added another $9.6m. The film’s top overseas market is China, where it opened last weekend, and following this weekend the film’s cume now climbs to over $167m.
