Producer Amy Pascal as been deeply entrenched in the Spider-Man universe having joined the wallcrawler during Spider-Man: Homecoming.
In a new interview with Fandango the producer discussed the future of the Spider-Verse franchise including an update on the sequel to 2018’s Venom.
“I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can,” she revealed. Speaking of the surprise success of Venom Pascal said “It’s a couple of things. One of them is that Sony did a great job creating that franchise and giving it a life and giving it its own world. Then there’s Tom Hardy.”
“When you think of Venom, you’ll never be able to think of anyone but Tom Hardy sitting in that bathtub of lobsters.”
Whilst she would not be lead in to a lengthy discussion on Tom Hardy’s Venom crossing paths with Tom Holland’s Spidey she did say “Everybody would love to see that. You never know someday… it might happen.”
Lastly Pascal touched on the future of animated Spider-Verse franchise. “Well, of course it’s going to be on the big screen and it’s going to be about Miles,” she said. “I don’t think you should exclude [Miles from a live-action movie]. I think you should assume there is nothing to exclude.” What about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, though? “I can say that we’ve had a fantastic partnership and you never know what’s going to happen.”
“We have a lot of stories to tell about Spider-Man, in every facet.”
The future of Sony’s Spider-Man franchise never looked so good.
