We are sad to report that it has been confirmed original Star Wars trilogy actor Peter Mayhew has passed away at the age of 74.
The actor, famous for portraying Chewbacca in episodes 4, 5 and 6 of the franchise as well as prequel Episode 3, was surrounded by family at his time of passing.
The news was confirmed via a statement posted to his official social media channels.

The actor returned to the role for J.J. Abrams The Force Awakens before serving as a consultant on The Last Jedi and spin-off movie Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Fellow Star Wars actor Mark Hamill reacted to the news on twitter with a heartfelt message to his friend and colleague.
