Warner Bros. has some serious cause to celebrate today. Aquaman closed out its second weekend in North America by bringing in another $51.5M!
For those keeping score that’s only a 24% drop from its opening weekend of $68M (not including $4.7M previews). The smallest second week decline of any comic book movie in this modern era.
It’s North America box office now sits around $188,7M. The movie should cross $200M on New Years Eve, ending the year as Warner Bros. highest grossing movie of 2018.
Internationally Aquaman fought off competition to bring in another $85.4M. The movie is currently open in 78 markets across the glove and its overseas cume is now $560M.
Globally that means James Wan’s underwater adventures has now amassed $748.7M. It has officially passed the lifetime grosses of Man of Steel ($668M) and Suicide Squad ($746.8M).
It’s now a race to $800M and surpassing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s lifetime gross of $873.6M. From there it will be a waiting game to see if Aquaman can be the first modern age DC movie to cross $1 billio.

The film is being produced by Peter Safran, with Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Rob Cowan, Jon Berg and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.
