Sony’s Amy Pascal sat down with Vanity Fair recently for a full and frank discussion on all things Spider-Man. As well as discussing the release of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse the producer touched on the future of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It’s well known that the deal between Sony and Marvel was for a limited time only. Allowing Tom Holland’s wall crawler to appear in movies Civil War, Infinity War and the upcoming Endgame plus his own trilogy of movies.
But what about when that deal comes to an end?
“I think about crying,” Pascal said of a future in which Spider-Man and Marvel retreat to separate corners. “I can only hope for a future where things work out. I’ve known Kevin since he was Avi’s very, very quiet assistant, who for many years sat in that room listening to us and being so much smarter than any of us without any of us realizing. I will say that working with Marvel has been one of the highlights of my professional career.”
Spider-Man: Far From Home is directed by Jon Watts and stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. It is scheduled for release on July 5, 2019.
