AQUAMAN social media reactions point to another DC Films success story

Following last nights gala premiere here in London the social media embargo on Aquaman was lifted. Fans have been anxiously waiting to see what members of the press thought of the James Wan directed movie.
Whilst it’s important to note these are only short reactions and not full reviews, the news is good. The latest DC Films entry has received an almost resoundingly positive reception from social media. Many have called the film ‘fun’ and a wild ride. One reaction goes so far as to call Aquaman the best DC movie since The Dark Knight.
Here are some of our favourite reactions so far.
Aquaman is a blast from start to finish, with beautifully directed action sequences, spectacular CGI and cinematography, great performances from Jason Momoa and Amber Heard, a fantastic soundtrack and overall…FUN! @creepypuppet absolutely knocks it out of the park! #Aquaman pic.twitter.com/0yRfxBGGgE

Chalk up a big, wet win for DC. @creepypuppet’s #Aquaman is an epic, swing-for-the-fences adventure that plunges fans into incredibly creative worlds. Goofy in spots, but it's rollicking fun. See it on the biggest screen possible! pic.twitter.com/ahODJ4mJAI

#AQUAMAN is an absolute blast! James Wan creates a thrilling story & makes a worthy entry in the DCEU
Full of spectacle & highlighted by creatures of the abyss, Wan creates an engaging adventure. The heart/emotion of the film resonated most, amplified by strong cast performances pic.twitter.com/GVj7tnO51o

#Aquaman was an absolute blast, from the charm of Momoa's Arthur Curry, to the spectacular visuals to the fun that it was clear that everyone was having. It was exactly what I was hoping for and I can't wait to see it again! I'll give you more details when I'm allowed! pic.twitter.com/FyeczAJJIJ

As expected several reactions compared Aquaman to counterparts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I’ll take some heat for this, but #Aquaman is the best Marvel movie that DC has made. That doesn’t mean it’s exactly like that formula, but it feels like a film that knows what it is, what it’s selling and who it’s selling to. There’s no identity crisis here.

There are also, of course, some mixed reviews.

#Aquaman is like an 80s cartoon, with all of the fun and the problems that come with that. A good adventure movie that acknowledges exactly what it is from the start, which is a meal made almost entirely of ham.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an acition-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.
Aquaman stars Jason Momoa in the title role of Arthur Curry/Aquaman. The film also stars Amber Heard as Mera; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe as Vulko; Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta; with Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman as Atlanna.
The film is being produced by Peter Safran, with Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Rob Cowan, Jon Berg and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.
