In its second weekend frame Venom has continued to take a serious bite out of the competition. The movie remains the number one movie in the world despite predictions that it would fall hard.
Expectations going in to the weekend put the film at adding a further $30M in North America. Those estimates expected the film to fall around 65-70% from its opening weekend. In fact the film fell much less (approx. 55%) and grossed a further $35.7M. That takes its North American total up to $142.8M.
Internationally the movie added another $69.7M for a running total of $253.3M. The movie is still awaiting a release date in China but considering it’s part Chinese funded that news cannot be far away.
When all is said and done the movie will close the weekend with around $378.1M in the bank. Not bad for a film with such middling reviews (you can read ours here)!
