Some casting news this morning for Spider-Man: Homecoming 2. Previously we’ve heard that the Wallcrawler may be going global for his sequel. Now we have an idea who he may be facing off against.
Deadline has confirmed that Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks with Marvel Studios and Sony to take on the role of Mysterio.
Spidey fans have been campaigning for years to get the character adapted in live action. During the Tobey Maguire years there were rumours that Bruce Campbell was in fact Mysterio. He turned up in each of the Sam Raimi directed movies as a different character.
The trade also confirmed that Michael Keaton will return for the sequel. That story was later cooperated by Variety. Little is known on how Keaton will return given his story wrapped up in the mid-credit scene of the first movie.
How do you feel about Gyllenhaal as Mysterio?
