The Hollywood Reporter has learnt that Gotham producers Danny Cannon and Bruno Heller have a new show on the horizon.
With Gotham heading in to its final season it’s to be expected that the cast and crew will begin to look for new projects. However nobody expected the announcement that Cannon and Heller have been working on a spin-off of sorts.
Last night Pennyworth was officially announced to air on cable network Epix. The 10-episode series will act as a history lessor for the character of Alfred. Slated to premiere in 2019 it seems like an interesting new chapter in the Batman pantheon is about to start.
In a statement DC Comics said:
“Pennyworth is based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne, Bruce’s billionaire father, in 1960’s London. Production will begin later this year, with a series premiere slated for 2019.”
