AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR becomes fastest film to cross $1 billion

Marvel’s Avengers have had another successful weekend at the box office. Avengers: Infinity War earned over $112.5m in North America in its second weekend. Record followers will be interested to know that is only the SECOND highest second weekend of all time. Star Wars: The Force Awakens holds the record for the highest second weekend with $149.2m.

Its domestic total currently stands at $450.8m.

Internationally the Avengers took in a further $162.6m over the weekend for an international total of $713.3m. Worldwide the film is now sitting at approximately $1.164 billion. On Saturday Avengers: Infinity War became the fastest film to cross the $1 billion mark. It’s taken only 11 days for the Marvel epic to hit the magic number. Star Wars: The Force Awakens previously held the record having reached its target in 12 days.

The Avengers still have a way to go to top the $693.1m haul made by Black Panther in the US but it should be an easy target to reach.
