It’s been an amazing weekend for Marvel Studios and Disney. Avengers: Infinity War has exceeded all box office estimates to become the highest grossing opening weekend of all time both in North America and worldwide!
In it’s opening domestic frame the latest Marvel outing was forecast to make anywhere from $230-$250m. It’s been able to reach that upper limit as Disney today announced that the film hit the $250m mark. That storms past the $248m made by Star Wars: The Force Awakens to take the record for highest grossing opening weekend of all time.
That figure also puts the Avengers way ahead of Black Panther which opened to $202m earlier this year.
Internationally Avengers: Infinity War also exceed expectations taking a stupendous $380m. That figure is without China which opens in the coming weeks.
Worldwide the film has opened to $630m again a record. The previous record for highest grossing opening weekend was held by one of the Fast & Furious movies which took $534m. Avengers: Infinity War has been able to blast past that record and then some.
All eyes now turn to how the film will perform in its second weekend next week!
