Director J.J. Abrams was on hand last night for the Paramount Studios panel at CinemaCon. The director discussed his upcoming movie Overlord and it’s connection to the Cloverfield universe.
Overlord is directed by Julius Avery and is based on an original idea by The Hunger Games screenwriter Billy Ray and Abrams. In the film, set on the eve of D-Day, a group of American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realise there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. The film arrives in cinemas on October 26, 2018
Originally the film was tipped as the next in the line of Cloverfield sequels following 10 Cloverfield Lane and The Cloverfield Paradox. But last night Abrams confirmed this is no longer the case. Instead Abrams confirmed he is working on “developing a true, creative Cloverfield sequel.”
Where would you like to see the franchise go next now that the paradox has been explained?
