A huge congratulations go out to Guillermo del Toro and the cast and crew of The Shape of Water this morning. The film picked up four of the thirteen Oscars for which is was nominated.
It picked up the awards for:
- Best Production Design – Paul Denham Austerberry, Jeff Melvin and Shane Vieau
- Best Original Score – Alexandre Desplat
- Best Director – Guillermo del Toro
- Best Picture – Guillermo del Toro and J. Miles Dale
It’s a huge win for a film classed as genre and was completely unexpected by most. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri had been the industry favourite to win. The Shape of Water failed to pickup major awards at The Golden Globes and the Bafta’s meaning it went in to the Oscars race as the underdog.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
