Star Wars: The Last Jedi has begun its assault on the worldwide box office with an opening weekend of approximately $450M worldwide. Claiming the record for the second largest opening weekend ever in North America the film made $220M in its home territory.
It falls slightly behind the $247.9M which was made by previous film The Force Awakens which holds the title for the biggest opening weekend of all time.
Internationally Star Wars: The Last Jedi dominated all of the territories in which it opened. The international estimates put the film at $230M for a worldwide total of $450M. With a 93% fresh rating and an audience score of A in North America there’s no telling how far the box office will run!
Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis, as well as Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.
