First it was happening, then it wasn’t announced at SDCC but still happening, then it wasn’t happening and now… we’re confused. But it would appear that Gotham City Sirens is still in development at Warner Bros.
After all the noise this week regarding a rumoured Joker/Harley Quinn film an ‘insider’ from WB has spoken with Forbes about what’s going on.
First up is either a presumption about the Joker/Harley films title or some insider info but the project is now being referred to as Mad Love. A reference to the BTAS episode and subsequent graphic novel which filled in the blanks on the Harley origin and her relationship with Mistah J.
That project is being eyed as a way to bring their relationship to an end freeing up the Harley character to team with Catwoman and Ivy in Gotham City Sirens.
The WB inside is quoted as saying ‘Harley, Catwoman and Poison Ivy are super important to us– And a super cool team, too!’
Perhaps rather than cancelling projects WB and DC Films are just putting their ducks in order to give each of the characters a proper ongoing storyline. Exploring Harley and her origin story in Suicide Squad then moving to her relationship in Mad Love and on to Gotham City Sirens.
What do you think of this latest twist in the tale?
