Welcome news for fans of the truth… it’s still out there. FOX has confirmed that The X-Files will be returning for an 11th season later this year. After the success of the reboot season shown in 2016 a further 10 episode season has been commissioned.
Original series starts David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will once again return to headline the series. Both stars took to twitter to celebrate the announcement with Duchovny releasing this first teaser poster.
Speaking of the announcement David Madden, President, Fox Broadcasting Company said “Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why ‘The X-Files’ has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide, Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of ‘The X-Files’.”
In 2016, The X-Files return drew an average Multi-Platform audience of nearly 16 million viewers and was last season’s No. 2 broadcast drama. FOX also claimed The X-Files to be the season’s most talked-about event series on Twitter.
