‘Logan’, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ synopses released

Two upcoming Marvel Comics films have had their first synopses released to the press. First up ‘Logan’ from 20th Century Fox. The film, directed by James Mangold, is now confirmed to have its world premiere at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival.

The first synopsis isn’t exactly brimming with new information about the film…

“In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border.

But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.”

‘Logan’ stars Hugh Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Eriq La Salle, Stephen Merchant, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez & Richard E. Grant. The film is directed by James Mangold and scripted by David James Kelly.

‘Logan’ arrives in cinemas on March 3, 2017.

Second up is another Marvel threequel, this time directly from Marvel Studios itself. ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is due for release on November 3rd, 2017. The first synopsis for the Chris Hemsworth starring film reads:

“In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!”

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is directed by Taika Waititi and returns Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.

Kevin Feige is producing with Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Victoria Alonso, Thomas M. Hammel and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. The story is by Craig Kyle & Christopher Lost and Stephany Folsom, and the screenplay is by Eric Pearson.
