‘Man of Steel’ fans rejoice! After several years of white noise in regards to a solo-Superman sequel word has come via the wrap that a film is indeed in active development.
There has been no official response from Warner Bros. or DC Comics regarding the story however a sequel was inevitable.
The original ‘Man of Steel’ was released in 2013, directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan. The film received a lukewarm reception from critics but made $668M at the global box office. The film left a bad taste for many Superman fans who felt te film was too heavily inspired by ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy.
‘Man of Steel’ unofficially kicked off the DC Extended Universe and was the film was the first to star Henry Cavill as the titular hero. He appeared alongside Amy Adams and Laurence Fishburne. All three would go on to star in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and will reunite in 2017 for ‘Justice League’.
Anticipation for a sequel announcement at San Diego Comic Con following the first films release was high. It was at that comic con panel that ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ was first revealed.
