Since the release of the first teaser poster (left) back in June news of ‘Saban’s Power Rangers’ has been lacking. The film completed principal photography several weeks ago and has now moved in to post-production.
Today that drought has ended with the announcement that key cast members will be appearing at San Diego Comic Con 2016. All five of the Rangers: Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott, Becky G and R J Cyler will be appearing at the convention with fans hoping to get a first tease of footage fom the film.
The posters themselves confirm once and for all that the five actors are carrying the character names from the original ‘Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers’ series from the 90’s.
An official synopsis released for the film reads:
‘Saban’s Power Rangers’ follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
Due for release in March 2017 the film also stars ‘Pitch Perfect’ and ‘The Hunger Games’ star Elizbath Banks as the classic villain Rita Repulsa and ‘Breaking Bad’ star Bryan Cranston as Zordon.
