Over recent months ‘Avengers’ and all round Marvel actor Jeremy Renner has been teasing that there was more to come for his character Hawkeye. First appearing as a cameo in ‘Thor’ and then relegated to a hypnotised villain in ‘Avengers’ (or ‘Avengers Assemble’ to us in the UK market) he has yet to appear in a solo film.
Questions were raised about a potential appearance for him in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ after the announcement that partner in crime Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) would be appearing. Sadly the appearance did not come to pass with the Russo’s boldly stating that shoe horning every character wouldn’t do justice to the story.
But now The Hollywood Reporter brings good news! In an article discussing Renner’s planned appearance in upcoming sci-fi flick ‘Story of Your Life’ there’s mention that Renner will be filming for ‘Captain America: Civil War’ during spring.
There’s been no confirmation from Marvel or from Renner himself but take this as a good sign for his character to finally get some well earned screen time outside of the ‘Avengers’ banner.
