The Scorched #21 is published by Image Comics, written by Sean Lewis and illustrated by Dexter Soy.

Issue #21 is available 30th August 2023 either directly from Image Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

The Scorched are still trying to come to terms with the fact that Monolith is now on the team. Will his brutality become an asset—or a hindrance?

    Review

Issue #21 sees the darkest fight for Earth and life in general is reaching boiling point, The Scorched must gather themselves and what their next move will be, but it needs to be a good one there is no time for mistakes. Figures that were once looked at as enemies appear offering their help to defeat Terminus and The Planet Eaters, but these are enemies that could well be handy on the good side for a change such as Mandolin and Urizen who are more than happy to stand beside their enemies for the greater good, if you look at it another way if the Earth is destroyed everything goes with it good or bad there is no choosing sides everyone and everything falls.

Time is running out as Terminus and the Eaters have armoured up with sacred weapons to take down the Hellspawn once and for all, The Scorched are pulling together for one last hurrah but someone missing, someone that could’ve helped in so many ways. As things look buried for The Scorched , who will rise and who will fall?

When it comes to writers and speaking of the best certain names can be put into that category and Sean Lewis is definitely a name that is well up there, a man that is becoming synonymous with the Scorched brand he is building a comic series that doesn’t seem to look like slowing down at any point in the near future. The Scorched series has always captured my attention from the very first issue and 21 issues deep it just seems to be getting better and better and that is down to the strength of the writing.

For this book there is a different artist involved with the illustrations and that is the talented Dexter Soy, best know for his work on Red Hood and Batman. You can just tell that Dexter is well versed in the art of action drawing as he seems to have hit the ground running with this book, although it has the almost signature look for a comic from this series the book almost looks like it has a more truer depth, still feels like a Scorched/Spawn title but has seemed to have move on and evolved.

The battle for Earth and even Human life is one of the most fierce I’ve seen and now all the factions seem to be fighting together for the same goal this one will definitely be the most explosive end game ever.

    Verdict

Just a standard full marks for this book again. The Scorched is the title that I always look for on launch date and it is always a day one read and for very good reason. Creative powerhouses have created an explosive monster that seems to be getting bigger and bigger, hold tight we are in for an explosive ride.
