This past weekend we were at MCM Comic Con London. One of the best parts of attending a show like this is getting to meet some of the indie creatives who have stands in Artists Alley. We had the pleasure of meeting some of the team behind new indie comic Woodland Creatures. The series is based on the novel by Cristina Roswell and is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to bring its first issue to print. Dark Phoenix hits cinemas next week and in the final run up to the release 20th Century Fox is continuing to release new TV spots. In this latest spot the studio is teasing the X-Men coming up against their deadliest foe yet. It’s also leaning towards promoting the movie as the final in the franchise. It’s been a public holiday weekend in both the US and UK this past weekend, not a bad time to open one of your biggest movies of the year at the box office. Despite lukewarm reviews (read ours here) Disney’s Aladdin has opened with an impressive $207m worldwide. Bare with us a little as reporting does factor in the public holidays. Over the three-day weekend Aladdin made around $86.1m in North America. Factoring in Memorial Day Monday that figure rises to around $110m. Not bad off a $180m production budget. Next week see’s the release of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s latest Batman epic. Last Knight on Earth promises to tell a Mad Max style, end-of-the-world story based around the last days of The Dark Knight. As the tweet below states, today marks 25 years since the debut of “All Good Things…” the final episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. To celebrate the anniversary CBS All Access has released the first teaser for Star Trek: Picard.
