In its second weekend at the worldwide box office Joker surpassed all expectations to maintain its number one spot.
Going in to the weekend the film was forecast to make around $40m dollars in the US. A forecasted drop of around 56% on its opening weekend. But, true to form, the Clown Prince of Crime surpassed all expectations and fell only 43% with takings of around $55m!
It’s domestic box office total now sits around $192.7m and will easily pass the $200m mark by midweek this week.
The Warner Bros. release also posted huge numbers internationally over the weekend, bringing in a further $125.7m for an international total of $351.2m. Here in the UK the film has taken around $37m which are huge numbers for film of this nature.
Globally Joker has now smashed the half-billion milestone and sits around the $550m mark as it heads in to its third week at the box office.

The film is being produced by Phillips and Bradley Cooper under their Joint Effort banner, and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. It is executive produced by Richard Baratta, Joseph Garner and Bruce Berman.
The film stars Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, also starring are Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.
