The Showtime network in North America has debuted a first look at the upcoming Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. The series has been described as a “spiritual descendent” of the original series which aired from 2014-2016 on the network. The series is set in 1938 Los Angeles, “a time and place deeply infused with social and political tension,” says the network. Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones) stars as a shape-shifting demon, Magda, who serves as an “agent of chaos.” Daniel Zovatto co-stars as Tiago Vega, a detective investigating the mysterious goings on in the city.
