Just last week the press wrote off Matt Reeves as the new director of ‘The Batman’. Today Warner Bros. one-upped it’s naysayers by officially announcing that Reeves has signed on to take the directors chair. A short time ago Warner released the following statement: BURBANK, Calif. Today marks one month to go until the release of ‘Power Rangers’! The marketing machine behind the monster reboot is beginning to go in to overdrive. Fans browsing the PowerRangersMovie.com website are now able to hold a virtual ‘chat’ with character Alpha 5. Earlier this week the first cast photo for ‘Alien: Covenant’ was released via the films official Twitter account. 20th Century Fox also took the opportunity to announce that a promo for the film was due this week. That promo took the form of a video shown during this weeks episode of ‘Legion’ on FX. Fans expected the first teaser for the film or a short sizzle reel. However that was not the case. Breaking news overnight via THR, director Matt Reeves has stepped away from talks with Warner Bros. over ‘The Batman’. A ‘studio source’ has confirmed to the press that around one week after entering the talks Reeves has left proceedings. The source concludes that Warner and Reeves could come back to the table once heads have cooled. In the meantime Warner Bros. will now look to one of its other options. May the power protect you! A third trailer for Lionsgate and Saban’s ‘Power Ranger’ was unveiled last night via the films Facebook page. Using a unique way to capture viewers attention the live video was required to hit 75K reactions before the trailer would be played. Very strange news has broken overnight. Several high profile sources are reporting that Mel Gibson is being courted by Warner Bros. to direct ‘Suicide Squad 2’! The news was first reported by Deadline as an aside to a story about his work with Paramount Pictures. THR followed suit with an article stating their sources had heard Gibson was ‘familiarising himself with the material’. Variety added fuel to the fire but noted that Ruben Fleischer (‘Zombieland’), Daniel Espinosa (‘Safe House’), and Jonathan Levine (‘Warm Bodies’) are also in early talks for taking on the job. Brief news on the new ‘Power Rangers’ movie today. As ticket retailers begin to offer tickets for the March 24th release they are also publicising the films runtime. UK cinema chain Cineworld are advertising the film as running at exactly 120 minutes (2 hours). Some US websites are promoting the time as 124 minutes (2hrs 4mins).
