The weekend is over and the numbers are in. Deadpool 2 has opened to $301.3m at the worldwide box office! The Merc has dethroned Avengers: Infinity War from the top of the box office. Going in to the weekend estimates ranged from $130-$150m domestic. The final weekend estimates put the film a little lower at$125m. The first Deadpool took $132m back in 2016. Though disappointing that Deadpool 2 failed to overtake the first film it’s still an impressive haul for an R-rated movie. Deadpool 2 is off to a strong, if not stellar start to its opening weekend. The 20th Century Fox sequel broken Thursday night preview records with a haul of $18.6m. The film then went on to gross what is reported as a $53.5m opening day. Without the Thursday previews that means the film had a $34.9m Friday. Estimates for the weekend have been revised to approximately $132m. Producer (and now director) Simon Kinberg has been discussing X-Men: Dark Phoenix with the press. With the film delayed until 2019 we’re still yet to even seen the first trailer. Kinberg is still hard at work on crafting the film with reshoots set to take place over the summer. Sad news for iZombie fans. Yesterday The CW quietly announced that the shows upcoming fifth season will be its last. Confirming that the series won’t return from last nights premiere until midseason it seems we also go confirmation of another 13-episode order. There was sadly no pomp or ceremony to the announcement. Simply put, iZombie is ending.
