Aquaman director James Wan has been quietly prepping the Swamp Thing series for the DC Universe streaming service.
Rumours over the last few days have pointed to Wan deciding not to direct the series pilot. Now a report from Splash Report claims that Underworld director Len Wiseman may step up to the plate to direct the episode instead.
Wiseman is no stranger to TV having worked on shows such as Lucifer, Sleepy Hollow and The Gifted. This film credits also include Live Free or Die Hard and the remake of Total Recall.
When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
Swamp Thing will premiere on the DC Universe streaming service sometime in 2019/20.
