Lucasfilm and partner Disney has officially announced the cast for Star Wars: Episode IX. The film is now officially in production with director J.J. Abrams back behind the camera. The shoot is expected to last several month and will bring Disney’s first Star Wars trilogy to a close. The film will see the return of Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), and Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix). Believe it or not The Dark Knight turned 10 years old this year. Though the film will go down in pop culture history as a box office phenomenon much of that was down to the incredible work put in to create Heath Ledger’s Joker. In the past we’ve had the great pleasure of working with the masterminds behind the adventurous UK comic series Snow: The Dawn. Following their world expanding graphic novel The Eventide they are dipping back in to the world with a brand new tale entitled Whistleblower. A new one shot by writer Will Gillingham with illustration and colours by Stuart McGarey this new story promises to open up their already intriguing world even further. Last time we took a look at the potential merger between Disney and 20th Century Fox we were awaiting the outcome of a shareholders meeting. That meeting has now taken place and the verdict is… the merger is on! Yes 20th Century Fox’s shareholders have voted in favour of the $71.3 billion offer from Disney to acquire the company. That means that Marvel properties Fantastic Four and X-Men are now officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At a special panel at this years San Diego Comic Con the Batman: The Animated Series blu-ray got its official launch. The set will be hitting stores on October 16 and comes packed with goodies for fans to enjoy. The panel featuring voice actors Kevin Conroy, Loren Lester and Tara Strong raised the roof on room 6DE by showing off the first remastered footage from the series. Today has been a rather excited day for trailers and we’re not done yet! Up next the second trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald. This movie actually went first at the Warner Bros. panel today but it happens to be the least comic book-y of them all. It wasn’t just the DC Comics movies which held court of Hall H at San Diego Comic Con today. Godzilla: King of the Monsters also premiered its first trailer as part of the Warner Bros. panel. Starring Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown and Bates Motel’s own Vera Farmiga the trailer has a lot to show off. DC Comics or perhaps more importantly DC Films completely owned Hall H at San Diego Comic Con today. Following the successful launch of the first Aquaman trailer (see it HERE) we also got our first look at Shazam! Whilst many expected the recent behind-the-scenes featurette which leaked online to be shown they were instead surprised with the first full trailer. Fresh from raising the roof at San Diego Comic Con we’ve got the first trailer for Aquaman! During the panel in Hall H two versions of the trailer were show. The version below is the official trailer. A longer, over three minute extended version was also shown. During the extended trailer shots of Jason Momoa in the classic orange and green comic book suit were shown. There was also further footage of Black Manta and the reveal of The Trench. Last night we sat down to watch the outstanding The Death of Superman animated movie. Following the screening selected members of the cast and crew joined the crowd in Ballroom 20 to discuss the movie. Towards the end of that panel we were teased that DC Comics would be announcing its slate of animated movies for 2019.
