There has been plenty of rumours going around about Marvel’s plans for the new Disney streaming service. We understand the studio is developing short, event-series based on Scarlett Witch and Loki. There has also been rumours of a Nick Fury series. Then we heard the Fury rumours were false. Counter rumours pointed to the studio working on “something bigger.” Could this be that series? A new rumour from Variety points to Marvel working on a series featuring Falcon and Winter Soldier. According to the trade, the limited series is to be penned by Empire screenwriter Malcolm Spellman. EW has given us our first look at LaMonica Garrett as The Monitor. The character will make his debut in this years DCTV crossover Elseworlds. This first live action take on DC’s multiversal observer is described as “an extraterrestrial being of infinite power.” Whilst we don’t understand what his role will be in the crossover it seems safe to say he may not be on the same side a sour heroes. It seems FOX has finally set a premiere date for Gotham season 5. The Wrap is reporting the network has begun scheduling its midseason premiere dates which includes the debut of Gotham’s fifth and final season. At present we understand the show will return on Thursday, January 3, 2019. The fifth season on the long running drama is understood to have 12 episodes, cut from the usual 22. Though that number is yet to be confirmed it would make sense given the timing of the premiere. Despite its initial lukewarm welcome by fans and middling reviews Venom has undoubtedly been embraced by the box office. Following another $10.6M weekend in North America the movie has officially crossed the $500M mark worldwide. At the time of writing the worldwide total for the movie is sitting around $508M. Current domestic figures put the film at around $187.1M, whilst internationally the total is closer to $321M. Based on an approximate $100M budget it seems Sony Pictures have a hit on their hands. The site has broken the news that a Hawkeye project is now in active development at the studio. At present we’re not sure if that project will take the form of a movie or something else. Here’s a new rumour we missed over the weekend whilst at MCM Comic Con. According to TheWrap Love, Simon’s Katherine Langford has joined the cast of Avengers 4. At present we don’t know who Langford will be playing in the movie. Only that she filmed scenes before the film wrapped principal photography. Marvel Studios own Kevin Feige has confirmed the first trailer for the movie will be with us by the end of the year. Perhaps that trailer will reveal her role?
