James Gunn confirmed to direct SUICIDE SQUAD 2, targeting August 2021 release

It wasn’t just Batman who was grabbing headlines today. Alongside the announcement that The Batman will release in June 2021 we also got confirmation as to when the Suicide Squad will next hit the big screen.

The long awaited sequel to David Ayer directed Suicide Squad will drop on August 6, 2021. In announcing the release date it has also been confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn will helm the sequel.

Interestingly the announcement titles the movie The Suicide Squad and not the expected Suicide Squad 2. Today’s rumours point to Gunn’s script acting as a stand alone movie with only “some” of the original movies characters returning.

There’s no confirmation on who that could be, so for now we’ll just have to guess who will be returning!
