Marvel has released a statement on Netflix’s cancellation of Daredevil. The studio has been widely criticised by fans for not acting quickly to secure the future of the series. Many are speculating on potential big screen adaptions or even for the series to move internally to Disney owned network ABC. Brec Bassinger has found herself in good company. DC Universe’s upcoming Stargirl series has added two new series regulars to its cast. Deadline is reporting Bassinger will be joined by Yvette Monreal (Faking It) and Christopher James Baker (True Detective). At this stage both are said to be playing “undisclosed DC characters.” So take that as you will. Stargirl is expected to start production soon for a 2019 premiere on the streaming service. With December right around the corner plenty of websites are taking a look at Aquaman’s potential opening weekend box office. There’s a general consensus amongst the major players that DC Films latest offering is tracking for an opening weekend in the region of $65M. Aquaman will open for the 5-day holiday weekend which leads in to Christmas day. Over that period the movie is tracking for around $100M. Though 20th Century Fox is promoting Once Upon A Deadpool as for “audiences of almost all ages” there’s a little hiccup here in the UK. The BBFC has officially given Once Upon A Deadpool a certificate 15 rating for UK audiences. This rating has been granted due to “strong violence, crude humour.” The problem is that is exactly the same rating as Deadpool 2 (reviewed here). Another blow for fans of Marvel’s Netflix franchise this morning with the news that the streaming service has cancelled Daredevil. Yes overnight the streaming giant has released a statement confirming that the Man Without Fear will not be retuning for a fourth season.
