Icon Film Distribution has announced that The Influencer Project will arrive in UK and Irish cinemas on 16th October 2026. The found-footage horror comes backed by The Blair Witch Project co-creator Eduardo Sánchez and producer Gregg Hale, trading up the haunted woods of Burkittsville for the digital space.
Directed by Mike Nybroe in his feature debut, the film stars real-life British beauty and lifestyle creator Chiara King, who boasts over 4.2 million followers on TikTok and 1.4 million on Instagram. Blending mockumentary footage, raw livestream feeds, and psychological horror, the film pulls directly from King’s own encounters with stalkers to ground its escalating tension in a chilling, all-too-familiar reality.

The story follows King as she travels to Copenhagen accompanied by a documentary crew hired to capture an unfiltered look behind the curated veil of high-stakes content creation. What begins as a peek into brand deals, public appearances, and behind-the-scenes hustle takes a sharp, evil turn when an obsessive online follower begins tracking her movements across the city.
As the surveillance tightens and threatening direct messages escalate, the documentary format rapidly breaks down. The line between content and evidence disappears, turning a celebration of an internet celebrity into a terrifying fight for survival where every notification could signal immediate danger.
Reimagining Found Footage for the Livestream Era
Sánchez and Hale redefined indie horror back in 1999 by leveraging the young and naive internet culture to make audiences question whether the terror on screen was genuine with The Blair Witch Project. Now with The Influencer Project, the creative team applies that same energy to modern parasocial relationships.
The film is expected to drop into UK and Irish Cinemas from the 16th October 2026.
