After spotlighting Avengers: Doomsday and surprise announcing a brand new Ghost Rider film, it was the turn of another Marvel franchise to surprise fans in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. Alongside Kevin Feige, director Ryan Coogler made a return to SDCC to announce that Black Panther 3 will be releasing in cinemas in 2028.
Not only that but Coogler was joined by returning stars Letitia Wright and Winston Duke to make the announcement that the film will shoot on larger format celluloid film. Whether this means 70mm IMAX is yet to be confirmed.
The biggest news to come from the panel was that Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk star David Jonsson is joining the cast as the adult version of T’Challa II (a.k.a. Toussaint), the son of T’Challa (the late Chadwick Boseman) and Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o). How the character will be aged up is yet to be revealed. The film could jump ahead in the timeline, or it could be connected to the soft reboot of the MCU being undertaken following the events of next year’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
