The world tour to promote Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl is now underway. The team from DC Studios was in Brazil over the weekend following kick off events in LA. With the tour underway we’re beginning to see interviews from the film’s junket arriving online. In one which has become particularly poignant with fans, Alcock discusses the cape which forms part of her soon-to-be legendary costume.
Speaking with Raiders of the Lost Podcast the actor reveals that the costume designers found leftover fabric from the creation of Christopher Reeve’s costume. In a passing of the torch from 1978’s Superman to 2026’s Supergirl Alcock wears a cape which features that striking shade of red which has become part of cinematic history.
“My cape in this film was remade using material from the original Supermancape,” Alcock says in the clip below. “Yeah, I think that they found there was like 16 meters of that material, so yeah, that’s in the back of my cape now.”

Reeve debuts as the Man of Steel in 1978’s Superman before going on to play him in Superman II (1980), Superman III (1983) and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987). Reeve died at age 52 in 2004 following complications of a serious injury which was the subject of DC Studios’ award-winning documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.
Supergirl stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zoe-El/Supergirl. Joining Alcock are Eve Ridley as Ruthye, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Jason Momoa as alien bounty hunter Lobo and David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham who will portray Kara’s parents. The film was scripted by Ana Nogueira who is now also rumoured to be being eyed for further DC Studios projects after impressing James Gunn and Peter Safran with her work on the Woman of Tomorrow story.
Supergirl will arrive in UK cinemas on June 25, 2026 before arriving globally on June 26, 2026.
