Ahead of this week’s release of Disney and Pixar’s highly anticipated Toy Story 5, The Walt Disney Company EMEA has unveiled a brand-new short film, “The Magic of Movies: Jessie Saves the Day”. The film is the latest in the company’s “The Magic of Movies” campaign: a longstanding initiative which brings the power of big-screen storytelling directly into hospitals that care for children, helping to provide comfort and joy to children who need it most.
To help reach even more children, the spot encourages fans to visit the Disney EMEA website, where they can nominate a hospital for the chance to receive some Disney magic, through its Toy Story: Take a Look artwork as seen in the short, designed to bring comfort to seriously ill and socially isolated children. Through the Disney Moments that Matter Programme, Disney is already bringing comfort and joy to children’s hospitals and paediatric places of care across EMEA: from special screenings to moments of connection with the characters they love.

The heartwarming film follows a young child in a hospital waiting room, clutching her Mr. Potato Head and Jessie toys nervously as she is taken in a wheelchair for an X-ray scan. As she begins her journey, Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the Toy Story gang spring into action, determined to complete an important mission: helping their young friend feel brave through this potentially daunting experience.
“Mission: this kid needs our help!”
Through humour, friendship and reassurance, the beloved toys help to bring a smile to the child’s face, showing her that having an X-ray is nothing to fear, transforming an anxious experience into one filled with smiles. The film reminds audiences of the power of familiar characters and stories to bring comfort and ease anxiety when they need it most.
Lee Jury, Senior Vice President, Marketing for The Walt Disney Company EMEA said: “For generations, audiences have connected with Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the Toy Story gang because of the friendship, loyalty and sense of belonging at the heart of their stories. As excitement builds for “Toy Story 5”, we’re proud to use the power of these much-loved characters to help bring comfort and joy to children who need it most. Through initiatives like Disney Movie Moments, we’re delighted to share a little Disney magic with even more families across EMEA.”
For over 100 years, Disney has supported children and communities around the world through its social purpose programmes. That legacy continues with Disney Movie Moments, which brings comfort during hospital stays through the magic of film. Through its Movie Moments programme, Disney collaborates with charities to bring the magic of movies to children in hospitals, helping them escape the day-to-day reality and immerse themselves in great stories. From big-screen movie cinema experiences to providing mobile movie theatres and Disney+ subscriptions for more intimate viewings, the programme helps children and their families experience moments of joy, comfort, and togetherness when they need it the most.
Toy Story 5 arrives in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on June 19, 2026.
