Capcom absolutely set the Summer Game Fest 2026 stage ablaze last weekend, unleashing an aggressive showcase of some of gaming’s biggest franchises.
Resident Evil Veronica Announced
Survival horror refuses to take a rest with Capcom finally announcing a remake of a fan favourite game Resident Evil Veronica, a ground-up remake of the beloved gothic classic Resident Evil Code: Veronica. Scheduled for an ambiguous 2027 release, the title marks the long-awaited return of fan-favourite heroine Claire Redfield.
Built on Capcom’s proprietary RE ENGINE, the remake promises to drag players into a desperate, claustrophobic escape through an isolated, zombie-infested prison complex. The developers promise a modernized gameplay overhaul paired with a chilling level of hyper-realism designed to push psychological horror to its limits. In another major win for all platforms, the nightmare will unfold across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance
Capcom also offered a deeper look at Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, the game’s first massive expansion slated for 2027.
The huge expansion literally takes the franchise to new heights by shifting the Expedition Team’s adventure to a high-altitude locale set entirely amongst the clouds. Hunters will navigate floating islands in the sky, wielding explosive new abilities that completely evolve the baseline combat loops. The stakes are rising just as fast as the elevation though with the formal return of unforgiving Master Rank content. For those looking to sharpen their blades ahead of time, the base game is currently on sale across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC with the Ascendance DLC due out sometime in 2027.
Street Fighter 6 Year 4 Announcement
Capcom also announced the roster of Year 4 of their Street Fighter 6 with a very interesting guest appearance from a Square Enix fighting legend! Tifa Lockhart from the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake series will be joining the Street Fighter 6 roster in Early 2027 along with 3 other characters from Street fighter history. Lore-wise, the powerhouse bartender is unexpectedly transported into the Street Fighter universe, where she quickly adapts her brutal close-range Zangan-ryu Martial Arts and signature Materia Abilities to match the world’s best.
Joining her in this roster expansion is Yasmine arriving on August 3rd, a fierce high schooler from the Philippines, Arjun due sometime in Autumn who is a Indian Police Officer framed for murder and then Bosch dropping in Spring 2027, a returning character from World Tour.
Year 4 Character and Ultimate Passes are available right now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and are officially open for pre-order on the Nintendo Switch 2. The standard Character Pass secures all four brawlers alongside bonus outfit colours and 3,000 Drive Tickets, while the Ultimate Pass throws in complete Outfit 2 and 3 bundles for the entire roster.
