Nearly three decades after the first movie, the Owens sisters are officially back. Warner Bros. has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Practical Magic 2, confirming that Academy Award winners Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman will reprise their roles as Sally and Gillian Owens in a sequel that promises to be just as witchy and heart-wrenching as the 1998 original.

    Check out the trailer below:

While the original film focused on the bond between the two sisters, the sequel—based on Alice Hoffman’s 2021 novel The Book of Magic—widens the plot to include three generations of the Owens family.

Joey King and Maisie Williams join the cast as Kylie and Antonia Owens, who are navigating their own burgeoning magical legacies and the weight of the family curse while Stockard Channing (Aunt Frances) and Dianne Wiest (Aunt Jet) are officially returning. Lee Pace and Xolo Maridueña (Blue Beetle, Cobra Kai), also join the already top tier cast.

Set twenty-five years after the events of the first film, the story follows the Owens family as they face a new crisis when a discovery regarding the family’s history and the origins of their magic comes to light. When Sally’s daughter (Joey King) begins to uncover hidden family secrets and develops her own dark abilities, the family is plunged into a multi-generational struggle to finally break the curse that has haunted their lineage for centuries. The Owens women (Sally, Gillian, and their aunts) must once again unite, traveling from their home in Massachusetts to the UK to confront the source of their magic and save the next generation of their family.

Directed by Susanne Bier (Bird Box, The Undoing) With the screenplay written by original writer Akiva Goldsman and Succession writer Georgia Pritchett.

Both Bullock and Kidman are also serving as producers. Speaking on the project, Kidman shared that the production went to great lengths to honor the original, including meticulously rebuilding the iconic Victorian mansion at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden to serve as the film’s emotional centre.

Practical Magic 2 is set to drop in UK Cinemas on September 11, 2026.

I am an ex Royal Navy sailor who loves all things geek. I have a strong admiration of anime as well as western television shows and movies. From a young age I was into video games as well as TV shows, often spotted in front of a screen somewhere. My goal is to become a screenwriter/director one day and left the Royal Navy after 9 years to better pursue that dream of mine.
