    Synopsis

Things heat up in Gotham City as Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and their reluctant new partner in crime—solving, that is—Black Canary hunt down leads in their serial killer case.

Catwoman ropes Batman into some steamy surveillance work, Harley and Ivy pour out the wine as they pore over evidence, and Canary…well, the only thing keeping her sane amidst wedding dress shopping and her too-fancy engagement party is getting her knuckles a little bruised and blood during suspect interrogations. But as the bodies pile up and Halloween looms large over Gotham, the Sirens realize working together across enemy lines proves harder than your average Justice League team-up.

When the killer suddenly turns the sharp point of their knife from the city’s most vulnerable women to the Sirens themselves, will the threat unite the mat long last? Or tear their alliance apart for good?

    Review

The Sirens are back, and the body count is rising. Issue two wastes absolutely no time — Dick Grayson turns up on page one (not a spoiler, it’s literally the first thing you see), and he looks very cute. Consider that your warning and your incentive.

From there, we’re thrown straight into the glorious chaos of Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and Black Canary navigating what is, frankly, a deeply unhinged combination of wedding dress shopping, wine-soaked evidence review, and suspect interrogations that leave Canary’s knuckles considerably less pristine than her engagement party outfit. The dynamic between the four of them is genuinely delightful — gossipy, warm, and laced with the specific tension of women who don’t entirely trust each other but are absolutely stuck together. It’s surprisingly sweet, and the book leans into it without ever getting saccharine.

The case itself is grimly compelling. Someone is targeting Gotham’s women on their birthdays — brutal doesn’t quite cover it — and the Sirens believe they’ve narrowed down a suspect. Whether that instinct is well-placed is another matter entirely. The Halloween backdrop gives the whole issue an appropriately creepy atmosphere, and as the threat escalates and the killer sets their sights on the Sirens themselves, the question stops being can they catch him and starts being can they hold this alliance together long enough to try.

Then there’s the art — and honestly, the art deserves its own paragraph. There is one panel in this issue: the Sirens descending on a group of goons from a wall, each of them so completely, unapologetically themselves — in stance, in outfit, in energy — that it put a smile on my face I didn’t see coming. It’s the kind of image that feels like pure comic book perfection. The sort of thing you’d pull out and frame if you had the wall space.

    Verdict

Sirens: Love Hurts #2 builds confidently on its debut, deepening the team dynamic while ratcheting up the stakes. Colourful, sharp, and genuinely fun — with just enough menace lurking underneath to keep things interesting.
