Happy Super Mario day everyone!
Nintendo has given Mario fans a treat this year to celebrate Mar10 with a brand new trailer for the upcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie due out next month. Along with the trailer though we are also given an updated cast list of people set to join the already big named cast!
Having thwarted Bowser’s previous plot to marry Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi now face a fresh threat in Bowser Jr., who is determined to liberate his father from their captivity and restore the family legacy. Alongside companions new and old, the brothers travel across the stars to stop the young heir’s crusade.

But first, let’s do a brief run-through of who is returning from the first movie. We have the titular Mario, with Chris Pratt returning to the role, as well as Charlie Day coming back as the always-scared yet brave brother, Luigi. We also have Anya Taylor-Joy returning as the graceful yet deadly Princess Peach, and Keegan-Michael Key as her ever-helpful sidekick, Toad. Kevin Michael Richardson is back as Kamek, the small Magikoopa who serves as Bowser’s advisor. Finally—saving the best for last—we have Jack Black returning as the King of the Koopas himself, Bowser!

But to add to this already stacked lineup we have the following.

Princess Rosalina
Played by Brie Larson
She is a Princess from outer space and the adoptive mother of the Lumas, they’re those little star like creatures we briefly met when Luigi was in Bowser’s Prison.
Much like Princess Peach, she is as deadly as she is graceful.

Bowser Jr
Played by Benny Safdie
The son of Bowser and the heir to the Koopa Throne, seen in the trailers weilding a magical paintbrush from the Super Mario Sunshine Gamecube game.

King Wart
Played by Luis Guzman
Originally the main villain of Super Mario Bros 2 on the NES console. Previously a ruler of a place called Subcon, though in the trailer it could be he is simply the owner of a casino in outer space that Princess Peach and Toad have to navigate through.

Honey Queen
Played by Issa Rae
Originally one of the bosses from the Super Mario Galaxy game on Wii, she is the ruler of the Honeyhive Galaxy. Not yet sighted in the trailers, she will no doubt with a difficult obstacle for the Mario Bros to defeat.

Yoshi
Played by Donald Glover
The ever loyal and friendly green dinosaur is making his big screen debut this time around as seen throughout all the trailers and promotional material, and he is being played by the incredibly talented Donald Glover.
There is no doubt that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be another jam-packed, big-screen adventure just like the first film, boasting incredible visuals and a bright, entertaining story that’s fun for the whole family.
With the Super Mario Bros. franchise turning 40 years old this year, Shigeru Miyamoto—the creator of Mario—stated in the recent Nintendo Direct that this film will be the centerpiece of that celebration. He also clarified that the movie will be full of nostalgic characters from throughout Mario’s 40-year history, so make sure to check back here when our review drops next month!
