ALL YOU NEED IS KILL Coming To Cinemas This Friday

Get ready to relive a landmark Sci-Fi story again… and again. Anime Limited and GKIDS are excited to announce that ALL YOU NEED IS KILL, a brand-new reimagining of the action-packed time loop story from the acclaimed STUDIO 4°C (MIND GAME, Tekkonkinkreet), is releasing exclusively in cinemas across the UK & Ireland from 27th February 2026.

Based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s bestselling light novel, ALL YOU NEED IS KILL follows Rita, a resourceful but isolated young woman who finds herself caught in a seemingly endless timeloop while investigating the sudden emergence of monsters from a large alien flower dubbed “Darol” – whenever she dies, she wakes up to face the day again, and again. As she navigates the trauma and isolation of repeating death, Rita crosses paths with Keiji, a shy young man caught in the same cycle. Working together, they might be able to break free from the loop, and find meaning to the chaos around them.

ALL YOU NEED IS KILL has been hailed as “lean, mean, resonant sci-fi at its best” by Dread Central. STUDIO 4°C has always been renowned for their innovative approach to animation styles and techniques, with RogerEbert.com celebrating the “awesome craftsmanship” of the animators on this film, whose “well-synthesized mix of styles complements the isolation that comes to define Rita”. Screen Anarchy adds that the amazing action sequences are “the main reason why you shouldn’t miss this”, and with anime films fast emerging as a global box office force that can rival even Hollywood blockbusters, there’s no better time to experience this seminal Sci-Fi on the big screen.

    Synopsis:

Set in the year 20XX, ALL YOU NEED IS KILL follows the story of Rita, a resourceful but isolated young woman volunteering to help rebuild Japan after the mysterious appearance of a massive alien flower known as “Darol.” When Darol unexpectedly erupts in a deadly event, unleashing monstrous creatures that decimate the population, Rita is caught in the destruction—and killed. But then she wakes up again. And again. Caught in an endless time loop, Rita must navigate the trauma and repetition of death until she crosses paths with Keiji, a shy young man trapped in the same cycle. Together, they fight to break free from the loop and find meaning in the chaos around them.

ALL YOU NEED IS KILL releases in cinemas in Japanese with English subtitles and Dubbed in English from Friday 27th February.

Earlier last year, we had the absolute pleasure of talking to director Kenichiro Akimoto about his experience bringing ALL YOU NEED IS KILL to the big screen. Here is a small preview of our discussion:

When tackling All You Need Is Kill was the decision to change the perspective from Keiji to Rita a natural decision?

All of the previous adaptations from the book, manga adaptation, and the Hollywood version with Tom Cruise, are all accomplished pieces of work in themselves, but Rita’s viewpoint is already mentioned within the book but we really thought about how it would feel to expand her viewpoint to tell the story from her perspective rather than Keiji’s. That would really make it different and original… and help bring it to the level of its predecessors while also keeping the core intact.
