Over two years after Netflix handed a green light to an animated series based in the world of Stranger Things we’re finally getting our first look at the project. The streamer has now announced Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 and confirmed the series will arrive in 2026.
The year is 1985, it’s a freezing winter in Hawkins, and our heroes are about to embark on an epic journey where the original characters must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorising their town. Tales from ’85 takes place between the second and third seasons of the live-action series.

Despite some great soundalikes in the the trailer none of the series live-action cast is returning to voice their roles in the show. Instead Tales From ’85 will star Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin and Ben Plessala as Will. Additionally Brett Gipson will take on the role of Hopper. Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips are also joining the Hawkins adventure.
The streamer has also released two images from the series:
Whilst we wait for a premiere date for Tales From ’85, Stranger Things 5 will release on Netflix in the UK across three premiere dates with Volume 1 on November 27 (four episodes), Volume 2 on December 26 (three episodes) and The Finale on New Years Day. Each volume releases at 1AM GMT.
