There we have it DC fans. James Gunn has tonight confirmed that his next DCU directorial project will be a Superman follow-up officially titled Man of Tomorrow. The news has been confirmed alongside a series of teaser pieces from three legendary DC Comics artists. As for the film itself, Man of Tomorrow will release in cinemas on July 9, 2027.
No story details have been confirmed for the project as yet. But each piece of artwork shows the Man of Steel alongside Lex Luthor suited up in his classic mech-suit. The teasers have been shared by Gunn alongside David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult further confirming that both will return to their roles.
The teaser artwork itself comes from DC Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee, legendary artist Jorge Jiménez and fan-favourite Mitch Gerads. Each has left an indelible mark on Superman in comic books so it’s great to see Gunn collaborating with the trio to help announce the film.
Man of Tomorrow will arrive in cinemas just two years after this summer’s Superman. That film is now crossed $611M at the global box office proving that even after a number of difficult years, DC still has the power to draw an audience in cinemas.
Superman stars David Corenswet(Twisters) in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan(The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (Nosferatu) as Lex Luthor. The film also stars Edi Gathegi (For All Mankind), Anthony Carrigan (Gotham), Nathan Fillion (The Suicide Squad), Isabela Merced (Alien Romulus), Skyler Gisondo (Licorice Pizza), Sara Sampaio (At Midnight), María Gabriela de Faría (The Moodys), Wendell Pierce (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), Alan Tudyk (Andor), Pruitt Taylor Vince (Bird Box) and Neva Howell (Greedy People).
