Vue, the number one exhibitor in the UK has officially revealed its new premium large format experience, EPIC.

Bringing the latest innovations in screen and sound, EPIC by Vue features market-leading HDR by Barco laser projection and award-winning Dolby Atmos sound-system.

EPIC by Vue will be the best way to experience a great story – offering breath-taking colour, mind-blowing sound on the biggest and best screen in the venue.

To create EPIC, Vue has expanded its partnership with Barco, the leading provider of laser projection, to roll out state-of-the art HDR by Barco laser projectors across the UK, as well as Vue’s wider estate in Europe. The agreement will see six EPIC screens launch in the UK in 2025, the first of which will open in Vue’s new venue in Nottingham later this month, followed by Castleford, with the first London EPIC screen coming to Islington later this year. A substantial roll-out will follow, with more Vue locations to welcome EPIC throughout 2026.

Each EPIC screen will feature new HDR By Barco 4k laser projection, which strategically directs light onscreen, offering up to six times higher peak brightness than standard digital cinema, delivering a more immersive viewing experience with deeper darks, brighter highlights and an expanded range of colours onscreen.

Another key part of the EPIC by Vue experience is Dolby Atmos, an immersive three-dimensional audio experience with up to 64 channels, including overhead speakers across the cinema, creating an incredibly detailed soundscape for the audience.

An EPIC screen will also always feature the largest screen at a Vue site, which when combined with latest technological advancements in sight and sound technology, offers customers the best possible way in the UK to experience gripping stories and hi-octane moments on the big screen.

Commenting on the launch of EPIC by Vue, Vue CEO and Founder Tim Richards CBE said: “After researching and testing a variety of premium large format options, we decided to create EPIC using the very best market-leading technology available. By combining cutting-edge HDR laser projection by Barco and Dolby Atmos immersive sound, breathtaking colour, expansive screens and studio quality audio, we will bring the very latest technology to our biggest screens across the UK and Europe, and give our customers the opportunity to enjoy a cinematic experience like no other.”

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Vue and bring HDR by Barco to moviegoers across Europe,” said Gerwin Damberg, EVP of Barco Cinema. “Like Vue, Barco is committed to delivering spectacular cinema experiences to all audiences. Together, we are transforming the theatrical landscape with exceptional, cutting-edge movie presentation.”

EPIC by Vue will host its first screenings soon. More information can be found at myvue.com.
