Breaking news from DC Studios this afternoon. As reported by Deadline, Welsh actor Tom Rhys Harries, known to many as Ricky September from Doctor Who episode “Dot and Bubble”, has landed the lead role in the studios upcoming Clayface movie.
The actor, also know for Uma Thurman Apple TV series Suspicion and such movies as Uberto Pasolini’s The Return and Guy Ritchie’s The Gentleman, landed the role from a competitive list of British actors which included Sinners’ Jack O’Connell, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes‘ Tom Blyth, Prime Target’s Leo Woodall and 1917‘s George MacKay.
Clayface hails from Speak No Evil director James Watkins and is the next big project for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s burgeoning studio after next summer’s Supergirl, scheduled for September 11, 2026. As with most upcoming DC Studios productions, the film will be shooting at Warner Bros Leavesden studio here in the UK.
Producing Clayface are Gunn and Safran as well as The Batman filmmaker Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris. Chantal Nong is executive producer. The Life of Chuck filmmaker Mike Flanagan wrote the first draft of Clayface with additional drafts by Oscar nominated The Wings of a Dove and Drive scribe Hossein Amini.
