It has been confirmed that DC Studios second live-action film, Supergirl, has wrapped principal photography in the UK. The film is currently slated to release in cinemas on June 26, 2026.
Shooting on the film was confirmed to have begun at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden back in January 2025. The production, led by director Craig Gillespie, spent much of its principal photography at the WB backlot on sets created specifically for the intergalactic storyline inspired by Tom King and Bilquis Evely‘s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book.
The production did also undertake photography on location in Scotland in the past few weeks. Scenes have reportedly also been shot in Iceland during the five month shoot.
DC Studios head James Gunn confirmed the milestone end of production while interacting with fans on Threads. “James, I wanna hear from you with this news just to confirm; has Supergirl really wrapped filming?” asked a fan. “Yes it has” Gunn simply replied.
Supergirl stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zoe-El/Supergirl. Joining Alcock are Eve Ridley as Ruthye, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Jason Momoa as alien bounty hunter Lobo and David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham who will portray Kara’s parents. The film was scripted by Ana Nogueira who is now also rumoured to be being eyed for further DC Studios projects after impressing James Gunn and Peter Safran with her work on the Woman of Tomorrow story.
Supergirl will release in cinemas in June 26, 2026.
