Dan Trachtenberg’s 2022 hit Prey really shook up the Predator franchise. With a series of ups and downs along the way, Prey changed everything. Instead of focusing on the future, perhaps the future of the franchise actually lies in the past, and as soon as Prey arrived everyone began talking about where the Predator should end up next. The possibilites were endlessly exciting and now it seems they’re fulling leaning into that prospect. Today, Disney and 20th Century Studios announced Predator: Killer of Killers, helmed by Dan Trachtenberg, which is set to launch on Disney+ on June 6th.
Samurai, gory finishers, Vikings, and WWII dog fights… What more could you want? This new film seeks to extend the Predators history with humanity while also providing an entirely new experience for fans. With three unique moments in time, we’re hoping this project could generate more similar stories… Perhaps Predator vs Pirates?
Synopsis:
The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge; a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession; and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent — the ultimate killer of killers.
Joss Wassung from The Third Floor serves as the co-director alongside Trachtenberg. Micho Robert Rutare penned the script from a story crafted by Trachtenberg. John Davis, Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, and Ben Rosenblatt produced, with Lawrence Gordon, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas, and Stefan Grube serve as executive producers.
This will be the first of two Predator movies this year. Predator: Badlands, which stars Elle Fanning, is set to be released in November, and will actually see Fanning’s character Thia teaming up with a young outcasted Predator.
