DC Studios has tonight shared our first a look at one of its most exciting upcoming projects. No it’s not a first look at Milly Alcock suited up as Supergirl. It’s actually our first look the studio’s debut live-action TV series, Lanterns.
First shared by the DC Studios Fan First mailing list, we’ve been given a first look at Aaron Pierre as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan. Production on the eight-episode series recently began on the Warner Bros. backlot in LA and hails from Ozark’s Chris Mundy, Watchmen‘s Damon Lindelof, and comic book writer Tom King.

Eagle-eyed fans have been quick to spot that Chandler’s Hal Jordan is sporting a rather large green rock on the middle finger of his right hand. Our first look at a Lantern ring may be hiding in plain sight.
Sharing the photo on social media, James Gunn also shared his excitement for the upcoming series, calling it “something really special.”
Lanterns will also star Ulrich Thomsen as supervillain Sinestro, Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe, Kelly Macdonald as Hal’s love interest Sheriff Kerry, and Garry Dillahunt as modern cowboy William Macon.
HBO is producing the eight-episode series in association with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Mundy will serve as showrunner, and Lindelof and King are co-writing and executive producing. James Hawes will direct the first two episodes and also executive produce.
